Is it common for seller to cancel a bid?

I won a bid, the seller cancel it at once and claimed it’s “buyer request to cancel it”

as it’s not factual, I asked the seller and showed my concern.

the reason he replied is the price is too low, and he set the price wrongly.

is it a breached of any rules?

Re: Is it common for seller to cancel a bid?

This is bad selling,  but they cannot be forced to send out an item.  Some just do not understand that there is a need to list auctions starting at the lowest price they are happy to receive,  they then cannot be disappointed.

The seller selected ' buyer requests to cancel'  as this does not affect their selling performance.  If you like,  you can contact Customer Services,  explain you did not agree to any cancellation and were disappointed not to receive your item.

You will not know of any action taken,  but they will probably place a damaging defect on the seller's account and charge them a seller fee based on your highest bid placed.  eBay do not like unhappy buyers.

If you wish,  this is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays

9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

It's interesting how many sellers know how to lie about the cancellation reason but not know how to start an auction at the lowest price they would accept!

Of course, some sellers actually follow ebay's suggested start price of 99p. In these days of buyers being rather thin on the ground, it is rather foolish to follow this advice.

Leave seller NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. Just say “seller did not honour the sale” and mark down star ratings, and also advise ebay as suggested.
