So I bought some Pokemon cards for £160.00. I’ve received a letter 48 hours tracked today with a note saying thankyou.
now eBay make is so hard to get hold of them to try and get help and my money back and I don’t know what to do.

Just to fully understand, are you saying you just received a letter and not your item? What did the letter say? Is it purporting to be the item you purchased?
If so, then proceed this way, no need to contact eBay or your seller.
You have received an item not as described, go right of the item in your Purchase History and from More Actions select... Return this item selecting the reason Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.
The seller needs to accept this case within 3 days and refund, if they want their item back first , they need to pay for that fully tracked return postage, then on receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you. If they don't , need to escalate the case, ask eBay to step in, and they'll force the refund.
Never listen to any excuse or promise from the seller to close the case early, and do not forget to escalate.

The seller's last sale was 2nd December but all their sold listings have been removed and they are 'no longer registered' so it looks very much as if Ebay closed their account.
I think you do need to contact Ebay fairly urgently.
Explain you purchased from this seller, what you expected, what you received and that Ebay have closed the seller's account.
They may insist you use a return case but the seller won't be able to provide a label or communicate with you so push Ebay to refund you.
Use the link to contact Ebay.

Thankyou for the quick reply. Just an envelope with a thankyou card in. Also when I...
As jckyll says contact Customer Services asap but I recommend doing this first thing when the lines open for ' live agents' preferably 8 a.m. on weekdays, or 9 a.m. on weekends as there's more chance of Dublin answering. They need to open a case for you for your refund as they have removed the seller from the site.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays
9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.
Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

That link is not working @tressygirl
I am not sure if it has been permanently disabled or if it's a temporary glitch.

At least that gets you to chat and not just round and round!
