I have bought and paid for an item but the buyer has said its been stolen

Hi everyone/anyone

I bought an item last week for over £1000. The seller has now said the item was stolen from his garage (even though in his listing he stated it was kept inside his house). He has said he would refund on Friday morning and is not responding to any of my messages. How do I speak with someone at ebay regarding this as Ii cant seem to find a contact number for them. I cant report the item not arriving until Thursday but the item wont arrive because the seller has obviously sold it elsewhere. I just want my money back so I can purchase it elsewhere.

Thanks in advance

You can't speed the return process up.

There is no short cut to get refund earlier than opening case,

But no reason seller can't refund now.

For seller to refund now, he would have to use a reason which indicated he was unable to supply the item, which means he would have to pay the selling fee around £130, so he eill w2it for you to open a case.

You could let him off the hook and ask him to cancel the sale, which would mean he uses the reason "buyers request" and that then makes a full refund.

When a seller cancels for a reason that counts as their fault they now only pay the fixed fee element.  When we queried this with eBay as having removed the 'punishment' they told us the defect was sufficient deterrent.

It's possible the seller thinks they are still charged full fees though.
