How to inform ebay that I'm collecting item in 3 weeks time as agreed with seller?

I've won an auction for a kitchen. Agreed a date with seller for 3 weeks time, and will be paying cash on collection. Also agreed with seller.

I'm concerned because eBay keep sending me messages to pay.

I've messaged the seller to arrange the date and to confirm the method of payment. Is there anything else I need to do to make sure I don't get negative feedback from my lack of knowledge of hoops I need to jump through to keep the algorithms happy??

Any advice / help gratefully received.

eBay don't permit cash on collection any more, all payments must be made via eBay checkout.

If you then decide that you don't want the kitchen, the seller can cancel the order.

I didn't know this .... ok, Thank you.

So when the advert says collection only, cash or bankers draft on collection, then that isn't allowed?.

While I'm here ..... Ebay have added an extra amount to the cost ..... what is this for?

I've only ever used ebay to buy small things which I've paid for straight away and they've been posted. No problems. This has opened a whole new area I've never had to deal with before.

Thank you for having replied by the way .... much appreciated!

After this, think I'll stick to buying books!!! 🐵

Lots of changes in eBay at the moment!

The extra amount that eBay have added is the new Buyer Protection fee - 4% + 75p.

I can appreciate that the seller would prefer cash on collection, but eBay don't allow that any more. Once you've paid, eBay will give you a collection code in both QR and 6 digit number form. When you've inspected your purchase and are happy with it, you then give the code to the seller and it confirms that the item has been collected.

You do have eBay Buyer Protection for your item, even though you collected, this is good for you but not for your seller, which is why they want cash or bank transfer. I think you need to get in touch with them and work out best way forward here.

Just one thing not mentioned, on the listing there will be an estimated delivery date.

That cannot be changed and if you are collecting in 3 weeks, ,it will not be marked as dispatched/collected before the set date, and seller may end up with a late dispatch defect.

Ebay are so inflexible and buyers and sellers can agree what they like, but not complying with ebay expectations can cause problems.
