Hi guys - new here. Hope someone with experience can help.
I recently sold a pair of very rare ARNET Raven sunglasses through the GSP to a buyer in Italy.
Everything went smoothly. Buyer paid, I packed up and shipped the item to the GSP partner. I got paid.
A few days layer I have received an email from Ebay with the following.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're writing to inform you that your recent transaction sold through the Global Shipping Programme to easybubroker can't be completed.
The item in question has been classified as restricted. This could be due to import/delivery restrictions or eligibility requirements within the Global Shipping Programme. The item will not be sent on to its final destination and will not be returned to you.
Don’t worry! Your buyer will be notified and refunded automatically by eBay within 72 hours. You will retain the buyer’s original payment. At this time, the transaction is considered complete and no further action is needed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This seems insane? The sunglasses are not a restricted item.
I would rather have the item back.
It appears they are keeping the item but not specifying why it is being retained.
Is this legal?
Any help or advice welcome

There is not anything you can do.
You listed them as tortoiseshell which cannot be sold or exported.
If they were examined before export and they couldn't establish if it was real tortoiseshell, they would be confiscated.
As you know, you keep the money from the sale and the buyer is fully refunded. Usually, items held onto like this are resold at auction and may even appear on Ebay again.

It's a shame that you didn't complete the item specifics section so that it was obvious that they're moulded plastic, and not real tortoise shell.
