Getting increasingly fed up with Ebay loophole

When searching for an item I specifically ask for uk sellers, then you get the two week wait because it's being shipped from China...

This has now happened twice, it's a loophole Ebay have not bothered closing , all it needs is a mandatory field to show shipping source and no I'm not disparaging Chinese goods I'm fed up with UK businesses not being honest with potential customers, if I wanted to order direct I'd use one of the Ali group of companies...

Anyone else feel this way? Do I as an ebay user have to ask every seller the source shipping country for every item I am considering buying?

There's an estimated delivery date showing on each listing when you look at it, this cannot be changed once you've paid for your item.

Presumably it wasn't showing two weeks, so the day after the latest estimated delivery date showing on the order, open an eBay item not received claim and then escalate it ask eBay to step in after 4 days.

Search is for ITEM location, a lot of Chinese sellers have UK warehouse.

All listings have have estimated delivery date, You can open item not received case 1 day later.

Escalate on day 4.

Ignore seller excuses.

When searching for an item I specifically ask for uk sellers,

No you dont, and can't. You cannot search on eBay according to the seller's location, only the item location.

China is the usual example, as many sellers in China have established bases in the UK for deliveries. This entitles them to list their items as UK stock.

If an item is misrepresented as being located in the UK, but is actually send from China, this is reportable to eBay using the reporting link provided in every listing (far right, opposite Postage and Payments).

Report Category: Select 'listing practices'.
Reason for Report: Select 'other listing practices policy violations'
Detailed Reason: select 'Item location misrepresentation'

Basically, to avoid unknowingly buying from sellers in other countries you have to scrutinise listings carefully to check where they are registered. eBay doesn't always make this as clear as they should. Sometimes you my have to check the seller's feedback page, which will state the country in which they are registered.

It's important to know whether a seller is based abroad, as if so you will have no meaningful UK statutory consumer protection. When buying items from China in particular there's a risk that they may not comply with UK safety requirements.
