Faulty Fridge Freezer

Hi, I purchased a fridge freezer second hand and collected it myself. after a few weeks of renovation work I managed to get it switched on to test.  The freezer is working. But the fridge is not. I then called technical services. And I'm told that it is knackered and unrepairable.  And then when I contacted the seller, she flatly denied that it is faulty and closed the return case. How can I precede this?

You say you have made renovations on the item,  this invalidates any eBay MBG Money Back Guarantee protection because in effect it is being returned in a different state to when purchased.  If it wasn't working when you got it home,  that was the time to open a return case for a refund.

You could try your payment provider now hopefully they can help with a refund.

If the seller was able to close the return case it means you opened it outside the 30 day window of the ebay money back guarantee.   They won't help now.

When an item is sold as "used" eBay requires items to be working as intended. So why would you waste weeks trying to renovate a non-working fridge instead of using eBay's money back guarantee to get a refund? The seller would even have been required to arrange collection if they wanted it back.

It sounds as though it may have been sold for spares or repair, in which case eBay's definition explains clearly that the item is not sold as working. There is no guarantee that it will be repairable.

I think they were renovating the kitchen, but thry should still have tested the fridge freezer during the MBG period.
