Why can’t I list an e bike for sale?

This is eBay's announcement on selling e bikes on their site.

As of October 31, 2023, private individuals are not allowed to sell electric bikes on eBay UK due to safety concerns regarding lithium-ion batteries; only "eligible business sellers" can list e-bikes for sale on the platform. 

 

Key points about eBay's e-bike sales policy in the UK:

• Ban on private sales: Individuals cannot list their used e-bikes on eBay. 
• Business seller requirement: Only businesses that meet eBay's "eligible business seller" criteria can sell e-bikes. 
• Reason for restriction: This policy change is primarily due to fire safety concerns related to lithium-ion batteries used in e-bikes.

Yep,  you'll see those and many items which break selling regulations,  but are listed.  The site is massive with over 7 billion listings on at any one time,  so impossible to check each and every one, and invariably some will become listed.

Once they are spotted and reported like yours was,  they too will be removed.

eBay also rely on members to report listings ,  there's a report button on the right hand side of every listing.
