Ebay requesting credit card details as an age check

Just tried to buy a circular saw blade & got this message 

it then requests i put my credit card details in, now im not putting my credit card details into a webpage, my payment methods are already set up in ebay so they know what cards i have & if ebay wont let me buy this item without doing this ill buy elsewhere, just tried on amazon & it lets me buy a circular saw blade from there with out this stupid check, in fact ive ordered it from amazon, its not like you can run around the streets with a circular saw blade stabbing people, how very stupid

I am surprised Amazon didn't ask for proof of age. 

It is the law for bladed items when buying online.

Credit card is only proof ebay accepts.

Could it be that amazon also has my payment methods & seems to know im old enough to order said item lol

The point is that this is eBay's site and eBay makes the rules. We can only tell you what they are. 

If you want to complain please contact eBay customer support. If everyone who posts here did this something might actually be done about it.

I know it's their rules, but I won't be purchasing this way as it only takes one security slip and somebody is having loads of things delivered at my cost, it's pretty daft considering I've had an account with eBay for over 13 years and they know all my details
