E-bay bidding

Hi All. Recently a potential buyer made a bid on one of my items. I saw a brief ebay message on phone but as I was busy could not deal or respond at that time.  However, as it may have been during the weekend I did not look for any messages until Monday. The bid has now dissapeared!   Firstly Why?  Secondly the bidder my think I have ignored them!

any help please as Ebay are elusive as ever.

If you click on where it says number of bids in the middle of your actual listing it will tell you if any bids have been cancelled and why.    The reason given is not always accurate as they are limited as to what reason they can give.

If the buyer's ID is showing if you click it you can use the contact link on the next page to get in touch with them.

Did the item actually sell?  If not, when a bidder bids,  they do not expect any message from the seller, but they are allowed to withdraw their bid.

It may be annoying to see a bid withdrawn , but in my humble opinion better they do that,  than win an auction, and not pay.  You then may have lost another potential buyer who has time to look around , buy elsewhere in the 4 days you have to wait to relist your item.
