Hi, I advertised an item as a collection only. I agreed a price with the buyer but they then wanted it delivered and offered for a company to collect the item. I’m new to eBay so consulted ChatGPT and it advised they organise collection through a eBay approved courierto ensure buyer/seller protection and I passed the message on to the buyer. The buyer agreed and sent me a label from Royal Mail tracked that they paid for. It was not obviously anything affiliated to eBay. I’m sure that eBay would have to send this to me direct or am I supposed to organise this delivery and if so how can I get the buyer to cover the cost? Please advise as I’m worried about being scammed. Thanks

There are too many problems with doing it this way. For a start you would need the collection code to prove buyer has item before you release it to the courier. The buyer would have to trust you enough to give it to you online beforehand. They can't rely on the courier to give it to you.
If you're OK with sending the item it would be best to cancel the transaction with buyer's agreement and relist with your own postage for them to buy again. If you decide to do that you can issue a cancellation via the dropdown menu for the item on your orders page > Buyer asked to cancel.
Or you can stick to collection only. Cancel transaction but use the reason "Issue with buyer's address", ie. too far away to collect. Then relist if you want to. And put their ID on your blocked bidder list:
