Hi all,

I would like to know what is the eBay protection window in the case of a purchase when the payment was already taken (rather expensive item for £350), but I can only arrange collection 6 weeks later due to the distant location of pick up. In case anything goes wrong with the seller and the collection will fail, can I still ask eBay to step in after 6 weeks from the purchase?

Nope,  eBay's 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee,  will not cover you for any item not as described   if you collect this item 6 weeks after payment.

Best way forward would be to ask the seller to cancel the sale, citing Buyer Requests to cancel,  this refunds you,  and their seller performance is not affected,  and to relist it nearer the item you can collect the item.

Are you by chance sending a courier,  a third party to collect and not going yourself?  Be aware,  this also voids any eBay MBG , you do need to go yourself,  check the item over, and only hand over that collection code,  and take the item , when completely satisfied.

I actually managed to arrange a collection in 3 weeks, this way I will be
within the 30 day guarantee window. This will work out the best.
