Cancelling a bid

I bought something by mistake but despite me contacting the seller within seconds of buying the item nothing has happened and it has been impossible to get eBay to do anything until they proceeded the order hours later. It looks as if I am going to be stuck with a very expensive item that I can buy elsewhere for hundreds of pounds less. Sending a general complaint to eBay is impossible. After 20 years on EBay I am going to close my account and never buy via them again. Buyer protection? What an expensive joke.

If it's a business seller you will be able to return it for a refund.

Re: Cancelling a bid

Have you actually received this item? It is possible seller may not send, in which case you get s refund by opening a not received case.

If it should arrive after the estimated delivery date, then that is grounds for opening a NOT AS DESCRIBED case, and seller has to pay for return postage.

If received and seller does not accept returns, then speak to your payment provider, but I sm sure you would  have to return it.

Re: Cancelling a bid

Thank you. That was very helpful. This unfortunate circumstance has been brought about by me inadvertently clicking on a buy it now that was an a crazy high price for what it was. I thought it was a much bigger version. Even though I realised my mistake within seconds the us no way to cancel a buy it now bid. I am sure there has to be some law against it but eBay have no way you can cancel it. You can ask the supplier to cancel but they do not have to do it and my case they have refused.
My only option now is if they go past their promised due date. My question is if it arrives after the due date am I best refusing it or taking it and filing a case you laid out in your reply.?

Thank you for your help. I cannot get any assistance from eBay. This is the second case in a week of eBay making it difficult for a buyer. My other case is an item from the states that arrived 4 days late and which I have had to pay duty on. I cancelled the order due to non delivery but eBay just say to give it a bit longer to arrive but my customer has cancelled his order on me so I am potentially out of pocket as I have an item I don’t want.

much obliged,

best regards

Kevin
