Buyer wanting to send a £250 gift card to receive funds on hold

It is a complete scam and you would lose £250.

After 4 complete days without payment, cancel sale for non payment.

Add this “buyer” to your blocked bidders list.

Set preferences to prevent anyone with 2 or more unpaid strikes from bidding.

Emails will be fake and  should be forwardedto spoof@ ebay.com

Did the buyer pay for the item through ebay?   Did you buy a gift card?     eBay would not want proof of purchase of a gift card so this all sounds a bit scammy.

Its a SCAM and obviously linked to the £7k coin you sold.

A seller cannot pay more through eBay than the total at the checkout.

Those are not emails from ebay, they are fake.

Emails telling you the buyer has paid will also be fake.
