Buyer protection fee

I just saying I agree by ebay message with the buyer to sell a slipcover for £3.00 + the postage the buyer then made the offer of the agreed £3.00 and when the offer came in it changed to £2.20 so it was taken from me I'm not the only one this has happened to

You needed to add the BPF to the £3.00 to get to the offer the buyer needed to make, if what you wanted was £3.00.  If you had counter offered £3.01, the BPF would have been added on, but the buyer might not have wanted to pay that much.

It's mad but it's how it works.

Buyer protection fee

You are not charged the fee.   It's paid by the buyer.

It is not possible for you to be charged this fee as a seller.

Please post a screenshot of why you think you were and we will explain.

Ebay collect and keep the fee.

It was never 'yours' to be taken from you.

The buyers offer of £3.00 includes BP.

So you get the amount without BP, so £2.20.

If you had offered £3.00, buyer will pay £3.00 plus BP of 87p.
