Buyer collected but status says despatched (not delivered)

Tried asking the AI but it was really totally useless so I am asking the community instead, thanks in advance for your help
I sold an item, the buyer paid via eBay, and came to collect the item (all good so far, no issues). But the status shows as "despatched" and is suggesting I add tracking information.  How to set the status to delivered? 
Lay it out please, what do I need to do, what does the buyer need to do? it really isn't clear to me.

The minimax DAC?

If the buyer clicked on the Collection option they should have brought with them a 6 digit QR code.  This needs to be scanned or the numbers manually enters,  as this is the only method to show an item has been collected.  Send them a message to send you this code so you can enter the numbers manually.

If they by mistake clicked on the postage option but then came to collect there will be no code, and no way to mark as collected, you payout will be released after 14 days.

As a tip for any future collection items do not hand the item over without receiving this code, send the buyer a message to remind them to bring this code with them, that the item will not be released without it.

thank you, yes it was the Minimax DAC,  the buyer lives quite close and we are both enthusiasts of this kind of thing so he came over yesterday evening, had a cup of tea and a chat and collected the item

I am in touch with the buyer and just got this response from him.

A bit desperate now , any chance of some help from eBay?



Hi Guy,
I have no options anywhere to mark the item as received or collected.
It's really frustrating as the item seems to be stuck in a status of dispatched with no possibility to change it on my side.

There is no way to sort this from either side.

You should not allow collection of an item sold for posting,  or vice versa.  

You will have to ignore the prompts and wait 14 days for payment.
