Hello,
I have just received a CD I purchased and it appears I have been sent a counterfeit. I'm annoyed I didn't notice, big clue looking at it now was they had 25 of them and it's a hard to find cd. They also sent some weird mirror or something (haven't opened it) in with Minnie mouse and luxury brand logos on it. With a thank you note printed on the back of the actual mirror saying thank you for being a valued customer etc. I certainly don't want to keep the cd as I bought it for a gift and I'm not giving a knock off to them!
What is the best way to go about this? Contact the seller which I am a bit loathe to do incase they straight up deny it and then I don't know where to go from there, or report somewhere to ebay?
Thank you in advance!
Lucy

Nope, you do not have to contact the seller or eBay, just proceed this way:
You have received an item not as described, so you are guaranteed a full refund under eBay's 30 day MBG, Money Back Guarantee policy, if you claim within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery.
You then go right of the item in your Purchase History, and from More Actions select Return this item, selecting the reason... Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.
The seller has 3 days to accept the case, if they don't , you need to escalate on day 4, or within 30 days, and eBay will step in and force the refund.
If the seller wants the item back first, they need to pay for a fully tracked return postage. On receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you. Again, if they don't, you escalate the case.
Do not close the case early for any excuse or promise the seller may give, and do not forget to escalate.
Familarise yourself with eBay's 30 day MBG,, Money Back Guarantee policy, it's written on every listing on the right hand side, in case you need it again, in the future, it can save you a lot of money and time.

Thank you so much for the fast reply, the info was really helpful and I will follow the steps to get it sorted out the right way.
Delving further back into their feedback now it seems other people have left feedback in the past stating they've received counterfeit cd's/dvd's. I would have hoped ebay might take action if they get reports of counterfeits and I feel bad that some people don't know they've been duped and also other people who might be duped by them in the future.
Thank you again, I really appreciate it!

Side note - they were silly enough to include a website address on the mirror thing they sent, so I had a look and it's absolutely full of knock off Gucci etc and even the new Deadpool Blu ray which isn't even out yet. Will have a look and see if I can report that somewhere.

Oh my, what a seller eh!
Going back to their eBay sales if they ' collect' enough refund requests, or defects for cases escalated, eBay will boot them off their site.

Sorry, me again - I did the 'More actions, return' step and it straight away gave me a return slip to print without any of the steps of 3 days for the case to be answered etc. I don't seem to be able to let ebay know it is counterfeit, only from what I wrote in the note box. It seems like the scammer will get the goods back to be able to sell to someone else and ebay won't really get to see the issue. Have I done something wrong along the way?

There is no option to mark an item as ' counterfeit'.
The selection is.. The item Does Not Match Description or Photos.
If eBay receive enough of these refunds for this reason they will act.
