Bought an item listed as collection only - We agreed they'd post it

So I found the item I wanted, it was the other end of the country and listed as collection only.

I sent the seller a message to ask if it could be posted, they said yes.

I won the auction, have paid via ebay.

The Seller is asking for the collection code, now my understanding is that once I give this to them, I do not have a leg to stand on if the item never arrives. Is that correct?

Is there a way to fix this? Can they amend the listing to include postage?

You are correct if you give that code it confirms collection of the item.

The only way round this is for the seller to cancel the order and relisting it with a postage cost,  for you to buy the item again.

They need to be careful how they do this to make it very clear in their messages to you that the item will be cancelled to be relisted on eBay,  to show it's not for an off eBay sale.

You can't just change the terms of listing,  that's why the seller needs to cancel and relist, or you both lose protection.
