Blocked by seller

Hi fellow community support members, back in April(!) I bought a set of bike stickers from the U.S which cost me around 70gbp. These never arrived. I messaged the seller about once a month but never got an answer until August when i discovered the seller had passed away. His widow then assured me his son was working on the back log of orders and would i be patient. I said ofc. Then in October I messaged again. This time his son answered, he hadn't known about the order but would see if they had the stock. They did, he asked me if I still needed it, I said yes. Still nothing In the post. I tried to message again but message won't deliver now. Have I been blocked? What should I do now?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?

It's too late to do anything on ebay.   You might also be out of time with your payment provider but contact them and see if they can help.

The trouble is the item is still available from the store, I actually  need it too. So do I re-buy it and lose money? I feel I bit stitched up tbh.

If you need them you will have to re-buy but not from the same seller.    You don't want to risk your money again to an unreliable seller.   And this time don't let ebay's 30 day deadine for claim slip by, regardless of excuses.

You stitched yourself up, tbh!

There is a link in every listing to eBay's money back guarantee. Buyers can open a case for a guaranteed refund when an item hasn't arrived by the latest estimated delivery date. But you MUST do so within the 30 day time limit to claim. This is clearly explained.

Why didn't you do this, instead of repeatedly messaging the seller with no response? You would have received a full refund months ago, including the cost of delivery.

Be fair - Who has "stitched you up," except yourself? It wasn't your seller's fault that he died. How can eBay have "stitched you up" if you didn't read or use the guaranteed protection they provided?

Well I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt as they are a large store with lots of feedback. I don't like to jump straight in with a dispute if I don't think I should. I guess I was being too nice. The reason I said I felt stitched up was because I thought I'd been very generous with the time I'd waited, I hadn't endlessly chased them and after all that just expected them to send me the thing I'd paid for. Silly me.

I agree it is way too late to get any help from Ebay and most banks give you 120 days when you don't receive an item.

I think you need to put this purchase behind you and, as advised, look around for a different seller to buy from.

O definitely, it's just a shame when I've had an affable conversation with someone to then be ignored and possibly blocked for simply wanting an item for a payment. As may or may not be obvious I wasn't born yesterday and have been around this site a while now, but I don't see why a seller should be able to block someone's messages arbitrarily.

If a seller adds you to their blocked bidders list, then that also blocks messages from you.

It's not a very fair move on this seller's behalf but it has enabled them to stop receiving messages from you.

Genuinely, don't waste any more of your life fretting about this purchase.

Move on.
