Has anyone come across where an auction has ended but it still has about 3 minutes to run.
I've bidded on an auction item and it said I was the highest bidder and it went into the ended section on my watch list, only to realise that when I clicked on it the auction hadn't actually finished .
If the auction had finished when it first stated it had then I would have won the item, but with it still having time left I was out bid.

Do you have the listing number?

Listing ended exact time it should have.
You bid 7 minutes before the end.

I sat and watched the time tick down to 0 and it went directly into my ended box on my watch list, so the timing is out somehow, as I said when it said it had ended I clicked to find that the action was still active, no notifications to say that I'd been outbid and I also refreshed the page when it said there was 1.30 mins remaining

so the timing is out somehow
In over 20 years here I don't think we've ever seen a validated claim that eBay's timing is incorrect. With respect, if anyone's was it's more likely to be yours.
Part of the problem is that there are often so many last-minute bids that eBay's computer can't keep up with them in real time. There isn't time to send and read outbid notices. However, once all the bids, counter bids and automatic bids have been sorted out the final bidding history is correctly timed.
So far as I'm aware, the only situation in which eBay may extend the bidding time is in a total outage situation, when bidders were unable to place bids before the listed end time. But if so this is extremely rare, and it must be years since I last heard of this.
There used to be a link to "eBay time" where you could see eBay's time in a window whilst following the end of auctions. This was quite useful as it avoided any time differences on users' connected devices. I can't find it now, perhaps it's been discontinued as most devices today are automatically updated.
