Bidding confirmation added VAT

Hi I put a bid in but when my bid was listed it notified me that 20% VAT would be added to my bid and whereas no notification on the original referred that this was subject to VAT !

It may not which is why before you place your bid you are notified. It sounds as though you are buying from an overseas buyer, so VAT is automatically added to the bid.

Check the about me section of the user, what does or where does it say the registered account of the user is? If outside the United Kingdom then that is why you are been shown VAT.

until a bid is placed there's no way of knowing the location of a buyer.

To clarify: Item posted at £1.95 My offer/bid £1.85 this came back saying
your bid @£1.85 add 20% VAT, but if i purchased at original price £1.95
then that was the full price.

If it was listed at £1.95, but the seller is registered outside the UK that is what decides whether VAT is added. This is the same even if item is located in the UK.

Without knowing what the item is, I can only say when VAT is added by ebay.

I checked listing and added to basket,shows as £1.95.

Did you move from another country to UK? 

Try clearing cache and cookies, then check again.
