Been sent a WhatsApp message after trying to buy something.

Basically just the above. I don't want contact outside ebay over simple items. Ebay has a message system already, why is this guy doing this? Do I now have to remove my phone number from ebay? Do I report this? Why does the seller need my phone number anyway? Do I cancel the order? I don't know if the order is being processed & I'm not replying to his WhatsApp that I've just blocked anyway. This has annoyed me. Need advice.

About the item. Not really the point. He could have messaged through Ebay's system.

An update to this. He's just tried to call me. I don't answer unknown numbers. Checked it & saw it's his number. Surely this is against T & C???

As far as I know, Ebay does not actually state that sellers should not contact buyers by phone when they have been in a transaction with them.  Sellers are not allowed to try and complete an 'off-Ebay' deal.

Sellers are given buyers' phone numbers as part of the order details when a purchase has been completed, and there may be occasions when a seller could feel that a conversation or a quick exchange of texts could resolve an issue faster than emails via Ebay.

I would send the seller a message through Ebay and ask them to only contact you through Ebay messages.
