While i'm only a private seller getting rid of some personal possessions, I still try and look after my customers and when I get feedback it covers a lot more than 'yes, the item was delivered' which is basically all the automatic feedback will say with no mention of , for example, packaging or how well the item was graded (i'm selling my vinyl collection). I feel buyers now won't bother leaving personalised feedback if they know the system will do it automatically, and there will be no way for potential buyers to know what I've done to ensure my customers were happy other than reading dozens of automatic responses all saying exactly the same thing. Is there any way of overriding this and only accepting actual feedback written by a human being? I personally would prefer to get less feedback but more detailed responses.
Even though I can no longer charge for packaging costs I still want to ensure the items are well packaged and get there undamaged which is why it's so annoying im losing money buying decent packaging. I've received numerous badly damaged records even brand new ones from labels because their packaging was so bad. There doesn't seem to be any incentive to go the extra mile anymore.

I believe I have answered your question on packaging before, and that is, I remember you saying it costs you £1, so just add that to the starting price of the item listed, and you are not out of pocket.
Automatic feedback is left after 7 days , but a seller can over ride it with their own , if they wish.

Only buyers can override the automatic feedback.

I agree with you - I am selling stuff, not collecting feedback and would prefer to have no feedback rather than automatic feedback.
It is nice to get kind and lovely feedback comments from buyers; automated feedback is meaningless.
Ebay have seemingly introduced this because they think sellers will like it.
I don't think all sellers will!

There doesn't seem to be any incentive to go the extra mile anymore.
Even automatic feedback confirming that the item was delivered is better than no feedback, which has almost become the norm for many buyers.
Your incentive to describe and pack items properly is that even buyers who never bother to leave positive feedback will still leave a neg when there's any problem. We see examples of this all the time.
