Authorising a payment on credit card

I can’t pay for a bike due to eBay not sending authentication to my bank.. so it just dosent go through until they send this out

Why would ebay send authentication to your Bank?

You say a Credit card, surely payment would go through the Credit  card company not Bank, and it would be the Credit Card company that authorise payment, not Bank or Ebay.
