AI assisted listing

Is AI assisted listing available with eBay?

You take some photos of the item and AI searches for a match, logs all the listing details for you!

No.

Private sellers list their own, unwanted secondhand items.

So, looking at the things I sell for example, even if AI could find  a similar brooch to one I am selling, it would not be identical.

If you are a business seller and selling new items, you can use 'sell similar' and take details from somebody else's listing and you can use AI descriptions.  However, the AI descriptions are truly terrible.

Some listings are using AI descriptions,

But you need to check carefully yourself or may end up with not as described returns.

Better to write descriptions yourself.

Re: AI assisted listing

AI descriptions are good in parts but can only be based on information you have already put in title, category and Item Specifics.

Unless you read carefully and edit anything that is wrong, it invites expensive, for you,  return cases. The less information you provide the more vague and standard the wording is going to be.

Basically using AI descriptions is the lazy option.

Re: AI assisted listing

I wouldn’t trust ai listings with a barge pole. They leave you open to inads. As others have said you need to check them.

a lazy persons aid to listing.

adding to the advice already given -

"You take some photos of the item and AI searches for a match"

If you provide an image og theitem you are selling, why would AI search for "a match"?

Re: AI assisted listing

Once it has a match the AI would fill in all the descriptions and a suggested price.

Re: AI assisted listing

The trouble with Artificial Intelligence is that is is not intelligent,

As a single example, I have seen items decsribed as 'mid-century' and 'antique'.

Hopefully, most intelligent humans would realise an item can't fit both of those descriptions.

For AI however, it's fine.

Be careful what you wish for.

As a buyer, do you really want descriptions of used items to be written by robots which don't know anything about the item condition, or to buy from sellers who are too lazy even to describe their items?

In fact, this bizarre, futuristic scenario has already partly arrived. eBay already allows sellers to copy and use other sellers' pictures and descriptions, so there is now no guarantee the the item shown in the picture is even the one you will actually receive. So on top of this, the eBay you want is one where the picture may not even be of the actual item being sold and the description may be taken from another seller's listing or written by a robot from another seller's picture. What could possibly go wrong?

Unfortunately, all the signs are that this is all too likely to be the future of eBay.
