I've used my own postage to return an item, but my account states that I haven't posted the item,  how can I bypass buying eBay postage and put in my tracking information etc?

Go to the return request in My eBay - opens in new window or tab.
Select the postage carrier from the dropdown list. If you select 'Other', enter the carrier name.
Enter the tracking number.
Select Mark as sent

I click on "see returns details" which takes me to select a carrier, there is no drop down option just two radio buttons for royal mail or collectplus. the only other hyperlinks I have are return details & cancel return. RETURN DETAILS just opens a pop up stating return started date etc etc any other ideas?
