I'd like some guidance on what to do abotut a recent purchase I made. I bought a table and four chairs which were listed as new from Ikea. The seller also kindly delivered for a small fee. When the table arrived, there was a scratch on the surface, but I didn't say anything as it wasn't too noticeable. The chairs were not assembled and were left with a bag of mixed fittings. My husband tried to put these together, but found that fittings were missing for two of the chairs (or so it seemed, but it was hard to decipher without any instructions). He assembled the other two and one of them broke a few days later under the weight of an average person. I contacted the seller to request partial reimbursement and the seller was cross that I was requesting compensation for something that wasn't this person's fault (presumably because the assumption was that they were assembled incorrectly). Then the case closed a few days later. I assume the seller closed it because I didn't. Since then, the second chair has also broken so I am left with 2 chairs without proper fittings, 2 chairs that have gone to the dump and a table with a scratch on the surface - and all were listed as new. I contacted the seller again to complain about ending up with no working chairs from this purchase and stated that posting them as new and then delivering them with fittings all mixed together in a bag and no instructions on how to assemble them is not an accurate classifcation of a "new" item. I did not hear anything back from the seller. And now the case has been closed and from my searching, it looks as though eBay doesn't reopen a case once it's closed. It has been less than 90 days since I bought this item, so I also understand that I am still within the window of requesting a refund (or partial refund). Can anyone advise me on whether there is anything else I can do to ask eBay to step in? It seems it is difficult to get in touch with an actual person through eBay since the case has been closed. Or is this a matter of cutting my losses and moving on? Thanks.
