Told my wife I had won, just so I could keep looking for a while longer last night. I'm in trouble now she's expecting a £10K's worth of diamond for Christmas. Help me someone!!!

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

Am i right in saying that if i'd searched for 1655 i would have brought up only around 6 items (one of them being the prize)? Just searched for it now and only got a few results. The reason i'm asking is that earlier on i was on a big crackerjack theme of searching and remembered their catchphrase "It's friday, it's 5 to 5, it's crackerjack!". I wondered if they were being really clever and so searched for 5 to 5, well to be precise i searched for "455" which is 5 to 5. If ONLY i'd have thought, "Hey, why not give the 24 hour clock a try?", i might be sitting here now the proud owner of a red mini cooper! Damn it...

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

Well I feel a right muppet if I see one more Dolls House I'll scream. Here's me thinkin they said it was gonna be easier today so I get's it into my head it's somethin to do with the CrackerJack catch-phrases. Then I'm thinking of that Stu Francis saying "oooooh I could wreck a dolls house". Anyways then they start say Tinkerrty Tonk somewhere & I look that up and its about Jeeves & Wooster which is written by P.G Woodhouse, so I'm thinking Happy Days!! Dolls House - Woodhouse I'm on a winner its gotta be that................ Yeah right not even on the same planet, I'm not cut out for this lateral thinkin evidently how wrong can you be!!!!!!!!!!

Well done Bales, enjoy mate! x

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

Today I managed to at least get the tree inside the house - it currently is lying on the floor with no means to support it's upright habit.

Hubby is not going to be impressed!

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

Top Idea EBay, as if ebay isn't already full of con artists and rip off merchants, you now give them another means of ripping us off.

Why not publish some CLEAR rules that tell us all how we know if we have found the official page and not some clown ripping users off as has been listed in this forum already..

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

Hi, Well I have been a avid fan of Ebay treasure hunt, my colleagues at work call me and Hannah80blue ebay entrepreneurs, We work as Accounts for a small Construction company in Nottingham, We sit all day thinking for clues, writing them, We have now involved the whole office, everyone that comes in to our office, or rings, we Say Hey Ebays clue today is Cracker, we r driving them mad, Our boss is now ringing everyday for the clue, I woke up this morning and screamed to the four walls, Its Crackerjack, we used to always say at school Its Friday its Crackerjack, god I just hope I get better, Its taking over, everyone is hooked! Long live! Treasure hunt.

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

Congratulations to whoever won the Mini.
Not overly sure about the competition though. Got on to the crackerjack thread at luchtime and actually typed '525' and 'five to five' which was wrong but if I had typed 1655 at lunchtime I wouldn't have found anything and gone off on a different tangent. Needs to be some sort of clear start time.

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

i agree ebay need to give us a little more guidance.
I nearly got there this morning but was playing guesswork on what I was looking for. Was it a 'buy it now' listing? Would there be a picture to identify it? When I got up on the computer tonight and had the right answer (not that I realised until I found these threads) and did the search and nothing came up, cos it had been removed. It would be a great help. If we knew a rough time the hunt started and when the item would be removed. Also what we are looking for cos I nearly fell for a few dodgy items, as by the sound of it many others have..... Great idea ebay but may need fine tuning.........:-D

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

OH CRIKES, Cracker came up and like many others, did Robbie coltrane, fitz, story of the cracker, cream crakers, jacobs to joe pascale to celebrity, 3am went to bed and thought crackerjack, ran down put in don mcclean, and all the other lot, cabbages and kings or was it queens, 5 to 5.... it was not 16 55 lol.... did nut cracker, safe cracker, nuts, depression, and finally thought that the whole hunt was crackers but it is great fun,.... crikes, I have not many listings this week due to this, must do better lol. good ones ebay....great fun

Not only was the EBay e-mail late getting to me (late on the third day), I asked my very british husband how he would connect Crackers and Friday...AAAAAAAAARRGGGHHH! He got it on the first go and wouldn't you know it, I wasn't the first one there...lol

I am now the proud owner of a dvd e-book thanks to the listing having 'mince pie pastry' in it's title. How are we supposed to know if it's one of the prizes?
Someone's going to make a mint on this.

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

Well, I've bought a bottle of "Tango Drink Bottle Apple in Mint Condition"! For £6.50... No reply from eBay, so I suppose it was a scam.
Bloody Treasure Hunt!

Can I have my money back from eBay??? I'm quite upset!
Thank you.

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

As a pensioner I am very upset by this treasure hunt. I was 'duped' on the first day by webfairtrade1 who has now been suspended. I thought transaction had to be completed to win and paid £77.77 by Paypal expecting 'not to have to pay it'. Now I have to wait until this is investigated to get money back. This is a lot to lose before Christmas and if not for the Treasure Hunt there is no way I would have done this ! I hoped to win presents for my grown-up children. I have given up taking part as I feel it is too open to abuse by the unscrupulous. Have seen huge amounts bid for pears and think this is ridiculous and does not enhance reputation of e-bay. I was so happy with using it and now feel let down and distrusting of ANY transaction.Have only just found 'chat' and this site so did not have enough understanding of what this competition entailed. Do not think it is clear to vast majority of people. Will never enter e-bay competition again.

Re: Tell us Your Treasure Hunt Stories

okay so the hint is 'sounds like' ... err sounds like what?? mince pie? or just a random word out of the dictionary. i've noticed that a lot of people are complaining of headaches...thats because you are staring at a screen aimlessly for hours, you arent gonna win peeps! you have a better chance of winning a compensation claim to ebay for damaged eyesight.and what a coincedence that it was free listing day for 'buy it now' just to reduce the chances of you winning even more.why dont you just stare out the window and wait for a pig to fly past instead...there's more chance of that happening or Jesus returning to earth tomorrow than there is of winning with the stupid clues they give.
