calcium and magnesium eh? hhmmmm will give them a go I reckon. I think my tablets mess me about, I know the diabetic Metformin robs you of your B vitamins, I take a supplement for them.
Merc, with you there mate, usually about 3am I wake, I sit on the end of the bed and try to relax, I have to put one foot on the floor as I sometimes nod off again and I've nearly fallen over a couple of times:^O

I usually have my nightly hot sweat about 4am but I have a glass of water & put the fan on & usually manage to go back to sleep.

These are the ones I use.
Its a combined supplement as magnesium does not work without calcium. If you have a good amount of dairy in your diet you could just try a straight magnesium supplement. But of course its good for women to have plenty of calcium.
Its the magnesium that relaxes. Its marvellous. It goes straight to the nerves and calms them. This works quite quickly (10-15 mins) I find. I have recommended this to lots of people who are now converts including a friend with cancer who used to get awful restless legs at night and is now greatly improved and has excellent sleep. His wife reminds him to keep taking so she sleeps ok too!
Only take this supplement at night though!! I met a friend of mine the other day and she said she was taking this supplement in the morning and wondering why she was feeling so low on energy in the daytime! The health food shop had told her to take it in the morning. Taking it at night really chills you out, calms you and gives you blissful sleep so you are properly refreshed for the next day.

I'm going to give that a go Alison...I'll try anything - I hate sitting on my own in the wee small hours.
It's not healthy for me to think too much:|

I haven't had a night like that in awhile, but when I did I took Kalms and they would work for me. Also read my kindle or play on the Ipad and usually I am ready for sleep. The walks with Roxie, and getting up a few times duirng the night to let her out has helped me sleep when I get the chance. Even tried to have a nap today, but someone woke me up barking. LOL It was the postie at the door. 🙂 So she is doing a super job. 🙂

My hubby takes calcium that he gets on prescription. I wonder if it could be swapped for the combined one or if you can just get magnesium on it's own. What about if you take other drugs though? He takes all sorts for cancer and anemia and blood pressure and rapid heart beat.:|

I've ordered some Calcium & Magnesium pills - I'll let you know how I get on :-x

Be interesting to hear, Merc. I am one of the worst sleepers ever.

You will notice a difference Merc.
These are just naturally occurring minerals. Magnesium is so important to the body but its not found in many foods so around 3/4 of people are deficient and don't know it, the common ailments that many people have can be down to a deficiency. The amount of ailments that are improved or cured by taking it is astounding actually.
Some nights I feel that I don't need it - other times I just take one tablet. On rough nights 2.
I have to say taking it changed my life 🙂

It's in dark chocolate & bananas. Also spinach & fish so I reckon I get plenty.
01-07-2013 10:19 PM
Out of those four things I only eat the fish. 😞
