Re: grubs up

Son and I had curry and rice followed by red jelly - it wasn't half nice!  Hubby away and doesn't like the

smell or taste of curry so we have it when he's away.

Re: grubs up

Just pot roasted (pressure cooker) a gammon knuckle.  Big one, too.  Had it piping hot with mustard.  Jewish people might have their hot salt beef sandwich but we Gentiles are more than happy to eat what they consider to be "unclean".  Mwaah!  C'est delicieux - magnifique!!  So bloated I can barely move.  To cook it properly you have to score the skin with a razor-sharp knife so that the heat can penetrate the meat

Re: grubs up

I've never had one - are they any good?  How long would it take to cook a lamb's neck stew?  It takes just forty minutes cooking time i.e. once the pressure cooker is muttering away with the gas turned down.  What's the advantage of a slow cooker - surely you want food sooner than later?

Re: grubs up

I love my slow cooker.. I can chuck everything in before I leave in  the morning and come home form work to a dinner that's not only ready but usually smells delicious too...

oday we had.. turkey and gammon, roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, cabbage and sweet potato mashed with butter and black pepper..  ollowed by apple strudell and custard.. and now I am well and truely stuffed!

Re: grubs up

I much prefer my pressure cooker. I had a slow cooker but it filled the house with cooking smells all day which I didn't care for. Love my pressure cooker.:)

Re: grubs up

Isn't it amazing how the shape never changes!  My Mum passed away in 1973 and I claimed her Prestige.  When it finally wore out completely - leaking like a sieve regardless of how many times you replaced the seal, I finally replaced it with a brand new one - slightly shorter handle but apart from that, identical.  They're obviously on to a winner on that one, so why bother changing?
