I have just spent all day traipsing about to get to Wrexham hospital to have this ultrasound injection thingy, only to be told by the doctor that after the scan they found that there wasn't any inflamation so I didn't need the injectionseems that whatever it is that's wrong with my foot it isn't the plantar fasciitis after all. (He said he'll report back to the consultant who then will probably think it over and forget all about me)......gawd!!!!!!! how frustrated can one coo feel?????
still means I 've got a sore hoof though....

Sounds like they haven't got a clue! I would be frustrated too!

You're right CB - if they are going deep enough into your foot with the scan, surely they must have some idea but obviously not. Honestly, it is annoying.

I've developed plantar factiitis since I had my hip replacement. I'm sure it must be connected and it's in the same side. I haven't been to the doctors about it but the symptoms are exactly as described on line. There doesn't seem to be much they can do about it anyway. Also, fortunately, mine occurs mainly when I get out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I can hardly put it to the ground on the way there, it's just about ok again on the way back!!
Was your operation for that capt. or something else??

Oh I'll keep that in mind gina thanks. I never go to the docs unless I can't function any longer. I stick my head in the sand and hope it'll go away!

CG, they did an osteotomy, cut a wedge of bone out and re-pinned the two bits of bone together. OH came up with a goodie on the way home though...we wonder if he damaged a muscle at the same time?
Your plantar fascia wants to stretch itself, so it does it in the night time which is why your foot hurts when you get up!! do you find yourself stretching your leg and foot out in bed in the middle of the night?

Well capt., I don't know about 'finding myself stretching it' because that's my new hip side and I daren't stretch it too much. I always have it slightly bent during the day too because that leg is now longer than the other one. So could be something in the whole 'stretching' theory???

I have a pair of crutches that I could lend to you - perhaps if you used them the next time you go to see the consultant you might get moved up the list.

OOOOh CB i bet your mad!!!!!!!!!!!!. I never realized you were talking about that planter Fascilities. I had that about a year ago and the only thing that stopped it was getting some hard insoles for my shoes from a foot clinic shop. It was very painful and i could not understand how it came on or why. The woman in the clinic said that it comes and goes though.
You must have something more than just that surely!!!. It must be very awful and hurt you to walk!!!!!
That must have been a maddening waste of your time arrrghhhhhh. Bless you,.

I can vouch for the fact it does go on it's own but it took mine over 18 months & was agony. Still getting the occasional bad day but it's so much better than it was.

About 12 years ago, I had an arthroscopy on my left knee which didn't show up any problems. I'm still in agony with that knee and I've just come to the conclusion that it is the arthritis. They seem put nearly everything down to that with me. Never mind. There's always folk worse off than me.

thanks for the offer of the crutches Stroopy, I have a pair here, and I will use them when I have to go again, wish I'd have used them when I went for my pre-op.
I was talking to a customer who I've known for years I think he worked in the physio or ostoepathy depts as he knows a lot about it. He said his wife was a podiatrist, so he's going to ask her if she may know what it is. He's very concerned bless him! I used to serve him every week when I worked on the tills.
You know, it's hardly bothered me today, you just can't win can you.
oh, I mentioned to the doctor when I went yesterday that I hadn't worked that day so it wasn't as sore....he said it didn't matter as the inflammation wouldn't go down that quickly!!!!!!
Never mind, I've just had my hair done so that's made me feel a bit better.
May I just say a bit thankyou to you all for being so concerned about me.

Oh I have that plantars thing here. I got so fed up of the pain and went to see a podiatrist. She said there are some stretches you can do to help stretch that tendon. But the best that helped was to stop working. The job I had I was on my feet the whole day. It is also called policeman's heel. They used to get it when they walked the beat. One thing if you are standing alot then bend your knees. It does sort of relieve the pain a little. I do those stretches at night, and my feet can hurt so much that I don't get much sleep here. So I can totally sympathise with you all. xxx
