He came home this afternoon thanks ladies. He's just gone to bed as he's feeling tired and 'jittery'.
He's no better than when he went in, but they've done tests.
They might show something new or it could just be a progression of his condition.

Glad hes back home with you CG & hope he feels a bit better soon ((hugs))

He rang the docs again this morning and got an appointment. I half expected him to end up in there again as he rang about the same problem as Tuesday.
He wanted some oxygen but they said his oxygen levels were fine, it was his lung capacity which is at fault and there's nothing they can do.
And if it gets bad, dial 999!

Poor chap. as if he hasn't got enough on his plate!

CG im so sorry to read hes feeling so bad now .
Oxygen wont increase his lung function & it dosnt help with breathlessness either really. My oxygen levels are good but my lung capacity is very very low so i can understand how he feels .
I know its hard when you cant breathe easy but staying calm does help as once you let the panic overwelm it makes breathlesness even worse 😞
Sending hugs to you both

Thanks Von, he realises that and admits he did panic and of course got worse. He's going to try and control it when it happens again. It's usually in the morning. We've swapped beds so he now has my electric bed and can sleep more upright.

He should sleep beter tonight then 🙂
Sleeping sitting up is not easy ive treid all kinds of backrests , pillows & wedges , the only time ive slept well was in hospital in one of those electric adjustable beds , maybe i will get one one day 🙂

I always find sleeping upright is nigh on impossible unless you have one of those fabby beds they have in hospital, it's the sides that's the problem. y our cushions move and your body starts to slope over to one side or the other!!!
I've always wondered why they haven't come up with some kind of pillow that comes around you, high sided so you can rest your arms on it. It could have a long flap on the bottom so you lie on that to stop the whole thing moving....now that would be cool!!

I got an electric bed after I had my hip replacement. You have to sleep on your back for 6 weeks and I just couldn't sleep! At least with your head up a bit and your knees bent, I was more comfortable. He slept a little better last night.
He went for his 4 weekly bone hardening transfusion at the hospital this morning and she said he should have a blood transfusion as his haemaglobin was only 9.3. so he's booked in for Monday morning for two units. She said he'll feel much better and less breathless. If it works, how come a nurse knows and all the doctors and consultants he saw, didn't??
He's been quite sick this evening though.

Sory to say but we soetimes find we get more info from the nurses than anyone else
Hope Monday will bring him some relief

Sending hugs to CG and Chickengrandpa. You are both in my thoughts.

Hemoglobin is the protein molecule in red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and returns carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs.
So he should feel better once he has the 2 units of blood.
For me - ambulance job, vomiting litres, doctors isolated me in a steam cleaned, sterile room (in case I was infectious), nurse I knew well who had looked after me previously came in took one look at me and my notes and said 'mucositis' - and she was right.
CG if you're stuck or worrying look up mayonnaise (without the nnaise) clinic website. Brilliant, and reassuring. US based.

Thanks for your good wishes everyone.
Are you home again now carol?, I hope you're feeling better anyway.
He was sick last evening but he's putting a lot of trust in this blood transfusion. He thinks he'll feel 100% tomorrow. I told him not to get his hopes up too high but daughter pointed out, that's all he has........hope.
