Here on the East Coast (Brid) it's very windy but has stopped raining for now. Seen the disruption down South on the news, and 10,000 homes without power; anyone got snow? If so, please send it this way.

Which pier is that?

Its Deal pier, I took 3 pictures and put 2 together, after the weeks storms it was lovely to see the sea calm.

I'm in the south and its been terrible for some since the 23rd.
We had no electricity or hot water/heating or cooking etc No phone or mobile and obviously no internet, on and off on the 23rd, then nothing at all xmas eve until late in the evening.
Then it went off again and we had no power etc xmas day.
Some people didn't even have tap water at all. Boxing day was spent with friends and their generator!
The floods were worse. We were ok, but in the next village people spent the night in church halls on xmas day as they were evacuated. No one could get into the next village as it just wasnt possible.
Personally, I packed the car up with the kids and our stuff and headed up to my brothers in St Albans. On the way we could see the floods from the main roads. Quite scary really.

Luckily we live where it doesn't flood. We haven't had much rain, just a couple of days/nights when it's been very windy. We were fortunate that we didn't lose power at all. A lot of people have had their whole Christmas ruined or their holiday disrupted. We have such strange weather these days. It looks like you've got your power back now then, let's hope that's your turn over for the rest of the winter!

Yes power has returned for us although still get the odd flicker. Don't realise how much we take it for granted when its gone do we?!
Just hope that everyone else gets sorted soon too.

No we don't realise. When you've got a power cut you think you've got it sussed and put a pan on the gas hob for hot water and light a candle if it's too dark then wonder why you can't open your tin of beans on the electric tin opener|!!

Bright & sunny here in Dorset today. A bit crisp earlier on but a lovely day. Sorry to hear you had such problems Streety. Glad you were able to go to your brothers.

Ice, Ice, and more ice, where we are today, Went to collect new toy and it took me 20 minutes to get into the car and defrost it, our road was like a skating rink I was practicing for scating on ice. Thankfully didn't slip, hubby shouted at me for not taking the 4x4, but as I politely explained I couldn't open the doors.
It is beautiful now sun is shining and it has melted the ice, not a cloud in the sky.
I have just seen the weather forcast and it looks like we are in for it again this evening and tomorrow.

Tuesday & Wednesday look worse for us with the gales as well as rain on Wednesday. I will get some nice food in for New Year & batten down the hatches. Beautiful today though. Off for a walk in a minute.
Just looked at the forcast. BBC gives us a lovely sunny day tomorrow & UK Weather .com gives rain & gales. Don't they both get their information from the met office?
29-12-2013 12:31 PM
Yes they all get the forecast from the met office in Exeter, but I think they make it up as they go along, I think we are to get the rubbish first again so apologies when it gets to everyone else.

Sorry to hear about your problems Streety. im lucky to be somewhere where none of that happened. We only had river flooding down on the Medway but the people who live over the other side in new flats i think had problems. This is a piccie my friend took down by Fairmeadow in Maidstone.

At the moment it's blowing a right gale here. We've not had that much rain either just the odd heavy shower now and again.
Sorry you've had problems Streety. Hope that everything's sorted now.

Morning from sunny Devon. It has been raining heavily here from about 9pm last night, very windy as well. It is supposed to be easing off in a couple of hours though, not cold though 11 degrees, compared to minus 2 yesterday, what is going on.

Gales & horizontal rain at the moment! Had to force Damson out for a wee & thought about going back to bed!
30-12-2013 9:45 AM
Our older dog is still sulking that he had to go out in the rain for a walk - younger one doesn't care what the weather is doing.
30-12-2013 9:51 AM
No way I am walking Damson in this. She can use the garden!
30-12-2013 10:40 AM
If we didn't take them for a walk it would be like a tornado going through the house sadly, we have a german shepherd cross and a springer spaniel cross, they are both collie cross so you can imagine what it would be like, now they are on their beds fast asleep in front of the radiator in the kitchen, when they are dry they will have free reign in the house, but they will sleep all day unless we have some silly person knock at the door.

Its very windy & raining here in the East Midlands, not complaining though as weve had nothing like the horrid weather some have suffered .
