Here on the East Coast (Brid) it's very windy but has stopped raining for now. Seen the disruption down South on the news, and 10,000 homes without power; anyone got snow? If so, please send it this way.

Gosh it was wild during the night with howling wind and rain lashing the windows.
Hubby had his Christmas lunch yesterday and got caught in the traffic around
the Dartford crossing - he couldn't even get out of the car park at Thurrock Lakeside!
So he left the car and came back by train. Trains were also all disrupted and it seems
he got the last train to run almost as it should - one of his employees went to get train
and there were none and busses were gridlocked. I've just run them back to get the
car.
The Dartford Bridge is now open again, wind has dropped considerably and it's
even stopped raining - but it's supposed to return within a couple of days. There's a
lot of flooding round here which is quite unusual for it to be so much in this area.
Keep safe everyone.

Wind has dropped and rain has stopped and the sun is trying to come out. Had a few things blown around the garden, and I didn't sleep very well, but apart fromt that everything is fine. Popped to the local garden centre for a plant at 9am and it was very quiet everywhere.
Sorry to hear you arn't feeling too good PCC,

@petitecalicocat wrote:We had strong winds & heavy rain & a roof tile has fallen onto the back garden from the garage block , other than that not to bad . Its calmed down now , even a tiny bit of sun trying to break through.
My chest /breathing isnt good though ive been bad for weeks now & its not getting any better 😞
Are you affected by the weather at all? It probably isn't helping when it is so wet as the humidity has been very high at time.
This is when sometimes an open fire can help as it dries up the humidity but without making the whole atmosphere very dry and dusty as CH can do.
Hope you can keep warm but have some fresh air too and the doc is looking after you.
We had more gails, wind and pouring rain during the night but eventually it calmed down around 7ish and it's just very breezy out there now.

So sorry to hear that - not good to have something just get worse that you cannot do anything about.
Lovely to have family and grandchildren around for Crimbo and wishing you all a lovely festive time and a really good New Year.
We've had a bit of blue sky and it's much clearer, but the wind is now bitingly cold.
24-12-2013 3:22 PM
It's blowing a hooley here at the moment and we have some cloud. Earlier on, we had what look liked a sleet shower. It's bitterly cold here.
Hope that feel better in yourself soon Von.

It's still very windy here, but at least it got the washing almost dry, which surprised me. Poured down in the night, then we had sunshine this morning, Still yearning for snow though.........................
24-12-2013 5:55 PM
I don't think that I'm on my own in not wanting snow. As I have said many a time, I hate the stuff and it is best placed on a Christmas card.
24-12-2013 6:48 PM
Snow is very benefical for the garden tho, books.
And the cold weather can help clear out a load of bugs too.
Warm n wet winters always have unfortunate and undesireable consequences the next year.
24-12-2013 7:25 PM
I agree that cold weather can help to clear the bugs away. It's just that I can't even get the car off the drive when it snows let alone get off the estate.

Just watching the news and the weather in the south east is absolutely dire. The floods are terrible and there are power cuts. It's bad enough at any time of the year but at Christmas, it's even worse.

Sunshine and blue skies near Dover 😉
25-12-2013 10:36 AM

It's a lot on the cool side here at the moment. I think that the heating will be going on shortly.
26-12-2013 9:27 PM
Woke up this morning to a thick frost. We've now got the strong wind forecast and it's trying to rain. The wind's that bad at the moment, I don't think that much sleeping will be done tonight.
26-12-2013 9:42 PM
Getting rough again here now. Gales & rain.
