The "Tweeters"

Seeing as some of you have really taken Tweet the Budgie to your hearts, I thought he should have his own special fan club thread where you can post your good wishes for his Xray on Wednesday or anything else you want to write. So far his fan club consists of Rose; Capn B; Sam; Chris.

Re: The "Tweeters"

Aww that's nice, Sam - Mr Tweet; I'll try to teach him that! He's very well thanks, talking away in his cage. I'll get the sprayer now and give him his shower, Thanks for asking after him. xxxx

Re: The "Tweeters"

I'm not too bad thanks, Sam; hope you are well? Mr Tweet has just had his cage thoroughly cleaned out, everything washed & he has had his shower! A swear box is a good idea, it would help to pay for his expensive seed! LOL  I'm hoping that will arrive today.

I'm going to call into the vets on Monday and ask whether it would be a good idea to put some drops of Milk Thistle into his water, seeing as Liver is enlarged. Anyone got any advice on that please? I bought it for Poppy last year, but hardly got to use it and its well in date.

Re: The "Tweeters"

Have you tried milk thistle fed as fresh green food, I know it's good for them & is a known natural herb for cleansing the liver, but if in doubt ask the Vet, I'm still amazed they haven't offered any medication to help?

Re: The "Tweeters"

Hi Sam - haven't tried any Milk Thistle in any form yet; just been looking it up and there's a Milk Thistle and Dandelion Root remedy, all the sites seem to be abroad though as the prices are in dollars. Trying to find a company over here that sell it. I think the vet would have possibly prescribed something if I had gone ahead with the blood tests; or surgery may have been recommended to get rid of the lead.

Re: The "Tweeters"

Hmmmm! Well sow thistle grows wild all over the place, it's fresh, free & plentiful & from what I gather it's fed to budgies even if they are not ill as part of the greenery diet, I bet CB & CG would be able to tell you if that's correct as they've both kept caged birds!.

Re: The "Tweeters"

Thank you, Rose; glad you are feeling better and back on here, missed you. The new food has arrived and - guess what - the little monkey is ignoring it!! I've been reading on the internet that a budgie will starve itself to death rather than eat something it doesn't want! One way to lose weight, LOL He's asleep at the moment; hopefully when he wakes up, he will have another gawp at the new food and maybe try it; I've put it on top of the Trill. The literature says don't mix it in as the budgie will just pick out the Trill. Crafty little beggars, aren't they? Will let you know if he eats some................................xxxx

Re: The "Tweeters"

I've got the radio on, Chris, and Tweet is bopping away to it; you know that very fast head nodding thing that Budgies do! He still hasn't touched the new food though. I love the fact that people are asking after him, shows what lovely caring people you are on here. Thank you. xx

You're welcome Carol.  We all love Tweet.  I'm glad he's bopping away to the radio.  It's a pity he won't eat his new food though.  Perhaps he will do eventually.
