we talked about just how effective red nose day help was here, its been going something like 25 years, last night they said a child dies from malaria every 45 seconds, thats 3 every 2 minutes, and there must be adult figures too, thats a chuffin lot of people

when i was studying, one of the subjects we did brought up the subject of Africa, and how education was so alien to them, and the effects this had on them

A huge American company was engaged to advertise, in Africa, regarding Malaria, and how aid was being sent to the farmers, free of charge, to spray their crops, to halt the spread. They figured the huge expense was giong to erradicate the disease and be well worth it

On every roadside massive posters were put up, bearing a big mosquito, with a big red line through it, and the bottles of "stuff" they would give out, and a few words (they knew most would understand)

no one came forward to claim any of it and when asked why, they all had the same answer, "we have mosquitos, but they are only small, none of us have those great big ones"

THAT should have told them education was needed, and they should have sprayed the crops themselves

I have often wondered about things like the contraceptive implant being used, the one that lasts a few years, until things got brought under control, but no doubt you would get all the human right nutters saying it was an infringement blah blah

It's the men that need educating but most don't want to know. Many of the children are born with aids & they along with the women are the ones that suffer. We didn't see any men on all the films last night, only doctors. In some parts of Africa they think the cure for STD's including aids is 'using' a young child. I am not racist but they are a lazy people & need to start making an effort to help themselves instead of sitting back & letting the world try & solve their problems. I have spoken to people who have worked out there & it exasperates me & makes me very angry.

Morning ladies.:-D  It's a beautiful sunny day here, bit nippy but you can't have everything.

Move over on the soap box you two, I agree entirely! I won't tell you what hubby says about it.

Mind you, with all the aids, starvation,illness and infant mortality, you'd think the population would diminish naturally.  Are the do-gooders actually just slowing up the process?

whatever the answer, i DO feel so sorry for the children

instead of fighting this at the end of the story, and treating the dying, they should be going to the source at the begining of the cause

Their governments are corrupt, the people complacent. As long as the First World are going out there & giving money & working it won't change. They think of us as a big money pot!

Kirsty phones me today, sounded tired, said red nose nite was a blast, and she is now at glasgow central

she was in London, she went in yest orning as instructed and told she was on the 11 o clock train, she had no idea:^O

she was running for adel, she has met her a few times and really likes her, she was also running for JLS, she really isnt a fan at all, so she has been the big smoke and neither her nor i knew:^O

Yes Merlin soap is chemical free 🙂 we have soft bottoms in our house 😉
