Morning
I think I need new specs - had to blow that pic up to spot Lottie and the lamp!
Lovely & sunny here now after a misty start. Just mentally preparing myself for the climb up the stairs to get washed & dressed.
BTW FB friends - you have invites to like my business FB page - please feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested - I need to sell some raggy dolls 😉 Trying to promote my folksy page - I've kind of neglected it but have 3 more dolls to go in there this week.
At my S&B group we are making a quilt for a special friends birthday - all doing a square each - could choose how we decorated it - here's mine ;

Ello Ladies I have come seeking help...
I am a complete novice when it comes to anything involving sewing but I desperately need to do a couple of sewing related jobs.
First job is I need to make a curtain for my front porch door as its very cold now in there. I need to do something simple so I don't get it wrong. I was thinking of just an easy flap top to feed a rod through if that makes sense. But I don't want it just to hang as a flat sheet I would like it to be gathered in some way at the top but not too sure how to do this.
In my kitchen there was a glass panelled door leading to the utility room and it got smashed at the weekend. After seeing what could of been a horrendous accident if one my little uns has been either side of it I have decided I should do something in fabric rather than re-glassing it. Any tips on how I could do that I want to do something that sits over the empty gap but doesn't waft about when using the door.
I have borrowed my dads sewing machine to speed things along its a Brother bs2450 and it has lots of different stitch styles, straight zigzag, gapped, etc what type of stitch would be best used. I think I once used a sewing machine 20 odd years ago. So any help will definately be appriciated.

for your glass door
get a rectangle and hem both ends
and use the springy stuff you get for net (eeeeek) curtains
so it can be attached easily top and bottom in the recess
and will be taught, i would use twice the width, so you can have nice gathers in the fabric
ummmmmmmm the curtain...........
someone?????

this stuff
just the first listing i came across
and i did think, if you are making your curtain to slot the pole through
wouldnt the same also work? using twice the amount of material?
that way it would be "bunched up"
i dunno
just thinking out loud

I agree with merlin for the broken window curtain, but I think you might be better with a narrow curtain pole for the big door, especially if you use heavy fabric. Have you got room on one side of the door for the pole to overshoot the opening so that you can pull the curtain clear when opening the door?
