They can get to a right size those hedgehogs cant they,
We had one that got stuck inbetween some fencing, took us ages to get it out, it rested for a while then went off on its merry way, havn't see it since.

yes, they can....... My friend Mo had one that they made a song about......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FychAHFobuQ
Be warned the tune is rather catchy. I have mine on diets here. It is hard to keep their weights down during the winter if they aren't hibernating.

Yes, they can swim quite well. But they can't always get out of ponds, pools, etc. They are too short. So need things to climb on or sloping sides to get out. I had to swim one of my girls for her leg. She had a broken leg and was dragging her back leg. Vet and all suggested amputation and I called Tiggys for advice and chatted with my vet and instead we gave her what we call hydrotheraphy. After about 4 or 5 months she was walking again with a little limp, but she wasn't dragging her foot. 🙂 So we released her. She could have got an infection if we left her dragging it. And amputation is quite drastic, though some do need them and do well afterwards. But are gennerally put into safe gardens.
