i got something similar from a friend visiting from the Ukraine last week, its their christmas day, today

and they give these at christmas, its like those, but its a cossack dancer, his wife, son and daughter.......and their chicken:^O

ohh I don't have a chicken... will have to keep an eye out for one of those..

I'd love to display them open.. but apart from not having the space some of the little ones are very little and I'm scared I'll lose them.. ( and they are a pain to dust!)

I bought some of those for my grandson two or three years ago.  They were things like whale, sea lion, dolphin, seal, penguin, that sort of thing and I just gave my granddaughter some proper Russian dolls that someone had given me.  (When I say 'proper Russian dolls' I don't mean from Russia, they were probably made in China, I mean doll looking ones):-D
