Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

My granddaughter goes to nursery 8 to 6 on Fridays which is a very long time for a two year old.:-(  She only goes 8 to 1 on Thursdays.

Oh wow that does seem ever such a long time 10 hours 😐

Keit goes 9 - 12 mon-fri just starting 9-3.00 mon-fri, he'll be shattered poor lamb, i think its alot for 4 yr olds, i think they should start at age 6 through to 18, all men and women retire at 60 no later, give all these kids leaving school now who cant find work a chance of getting a job.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

soz, I was eatin:8}

They only get one full day at big school before the summer hols and then they start full time in sept 2012.

Nervous, NERVOUS, I felt sick, I'm sooooo worried about him moving up, it is a really good school and they have a great rep but Beau has severe dyslexia and a speech problem, he's really worried that he ain't gonna be able to do the work:-( he works sooo hard at school and all his teachers and helpers love him, he's got loads of friends and is really popular buyt he's starting to panic in case he still can't read on his own:-(

Its nice that they are aware of his dyslexia and speech problem, these days its not ignored like it used to be, but i can understand him worrying, it can get so stressful when people keep asking them to repeat your words, its good he's with the same group of friends, as they could help boost his confidance a little.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

That's a very large can of worms though gems.  Some people are still paying a mortgage at 60 and men especially could still have children under 16 to support.

It's very difficult to find a way that is fair to all.  A friend of mine got a bus pass at sixty and used it to get to work, she didn't really need it, but she was still paying tax etc. so has a right to it.  It's all very complicated.:|

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

thing is, there will be 8 tutor groups when he starts in year 7 and 240 kids so they get split up over the eight groups so there will probably be someone he knows in his group but there's no guarantees. I wanted to cry tonight when all the parents were asking about sports facilities and tech stuff and they all looked at me when I asked about Inclusion:-(

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

What's inclusion?  Do they give him those coloured plastic sheets, and do they do any good?

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Inclusion is all about including himin what the rest of the class do iykwim, and he's got some coloured ruler type things that he uss when he reads, helps a bit. One of his biggest problems is his speech problem, because kids learn phonecly*sp* and the way he says things isn't how they are actually spelt it is confusing for him

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

They do say the English language is the hardest to learn don't they.:-(  It can be so confusing, some words sound the same and are spelled differently and some sound different but are spelled the same!  I'm surprised any of us can do it!:|

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Our brains are all wired differently. We all excell in some way. We just have to find it & use it. The best reader in the world might not be able to build a boat. 🙂 But many men build boats that cannot read properly.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I love english & the english language but numbers I can't deal with. I get a red mist! I am ok if I can write them down but even then I find maths very difficult.

My grandson (10) can do mental arithmatic so easily he puts me to shame. So does his spelling but he hasn't got an ounce of common sense!

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Night numpty (I was away letting the dog out and she doesn't like going out by herself when it's dark!)

I've often wondered if my hubby's dislexic, his spelling is terrible but even when you point out that it's wrong he can't seem to work out where or why. He still reads some words wrongly too, but he's very good at maths and has loads of logic.  I often get him to work out a knitting or sewing problem and although he knows nothing about them, he can see what's needed and so what I need to do to achieve it. He found the problem with my overlocker the other day (I'd bent one of the needles sewing jeans) and threaded it up again just by sitting and working out which thread needed to go where to do the job.
