Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

The second pair of varifocals I had where from the opticians that I shouldn't have gone to really let alone 'I should have gone there'.  They had the prescription all wrong and wouldn't admit to it.  The glasses I got from them were so bad, I ended up using my previous pair which were brilliant.  The next time I had my eyes tested I used a small local optician and went in with my older glasses and after they had tested my eyes, they said that my eyes hadn't changed much from four years earlier.  Just goes to show that some opticians aren't brilliant.  I've even had the staff of another high street optician telling that I wasn't putting my glasses on properly!!!!!!!!!  Now, up until then, I'd worn glasses for years and what they didn't want to admit was they had got the prescription wrong.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

very first pair of glasses I had was years ago, must be over 25yrs I only needed them in work as the lights were giving me headaches. Optician gave me these glasses, well I was all over the place they made me feel sick etc etc. OH kept saying for me to shut up and get used to them hahahaa.

turns out I had another ladies glasses!!! an independant optician told me they weren't for my eye pescription! I stopped using them.

20yrs on, I did need glasses for reading, and I've only had 3 differrent pescriptions in the past 18yrs so that's not bad, I would consider my eyesight only changes slowly. I need to go now though, as it's gone worse.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I am on my fourth pair of varifocals & love them. For close work buy a pair of cheap magnifying ones in the £1 shop. They are great for the job.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I normally wear contact lenses but as I am short sighted they are perfect for distance but no good for reading and close work so my optician suggested that I bought a pair of cheap ready readers for that. I was quite impressed as he could have tried to sell my some more expensive reading glasses.

I first had my eyes tested when I was expecting my first child.  He'll be 44 in March, I suppose I should go again some time  shouldn't I? Smiley Indifferent

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I think that be a good idea CG.  I think that I'm on my fourth pair of varifocals as well.  Must admit that I am happy with them.

It's been a lot on the cool side here at the moment but there was no frost first thing.  Just wish that it would warm up a bit.  It's better going to bed at this time of the year 'cos at least you can snuggle up in bed and get nice and warm.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

We don't really want it to warm up do we books.  The little birdies will start having babies, the plants will start pushing through the soil and then the frost and snow will come and kill them all! Woman Sad

True CG, there is that.  Hate snow and ice along with frost.  They should be banned.

Well it's cold here at the moment but it's pouring with rain at the moment and has been for the last couple of hours.  At least it's not snowing and it can stay that way.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Just been watching a lovely animal programme called Wild Brazil.  It's a lovely programme about wild animals and their young.  It's on again tomorrow night.  Methinks that I'll be watching it again.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Morning all.  I hope that everyone is as well as can be expected.

It's a bit on the cool side here but I've known it worse.  Also, it looks like we may have rain at some point during the day.

Steph and Grace are coming for their tea today.  Grace goes to the nursery where Steph works on a Wednesday so I'm picking them up from there.  Hopefully Steph will remember a disc she has with the wedding photos on.  If possible, I'll make a copy of it so I can have a good look at the piccies at my leisure.

Hugs to all that need them.
