Spiders!!

Had 7 spiders in the house since Monday, including one on my neck, which made me scream - I hate them! Hope we aren't going to have a spider invasion this year. Have tried "Spider Stop" spray, but doesn't seem to work. I don't mind money spiders, but anything bigger than that, no thanks; the one in the conservatory last night was a huge one. I don't suppose anything stops them getting in the house, does it? 🙂

Ask around and see if anyone has some of last years conkers..These placed around your house will stop them coming in and you wil be spider free

Spiders will reduce other insects, like flies, carpet beetles etc. They will not hurt you and are good for the environment.

Why not get a spider catcher and put them outdoors?

It was with great cautiousness that I opened this thread, being a fellow spider-hater!

However, I won't hurt or kill them 'cos it isn't their fault I don't like them.  I usually put

a bowl over them until hubby comes home to deal with them, or if they are on the wall, sometimes I am very brave and catch them in a pot with a postcard over then chuck the whole lot into the garden.

Possibly even worse than a spider, yesterday morning, at about 5am, I trod barefoot on a SLUG which was in the house, on the carpet!  That was gross.

I have to say Merc that a slug is the one creature that I cannot for the life of me work out the purpose of.  I mean why, was God having an off day when he invented slugs or something?!  Seriously, they seem to do nothing but look horrid and annoy people.

A while back I had gone into the garden to tuck the bunnies into bed and a slug must have crawled onto my long hair.  I did not realise and went to bed with it on my hair.  I laid on the pillow on something cold and squidgy which was against my face.  It took about 10 minutes to get out because it had got all tangled up in my hair.  Gross.

Another time a few summers back I went to put some shorts on. As I did the zip up I noticed a long black thread coming out of the waistband.  Thought it was a bit of cotton and pulled it but it was a spider leg and attached to a spider.  I had a spider inside my shorts.  Should have heard the screams!! 

There was a spider in the flat last night too.  I live on my own now and put a wine glass over him.  Luckily he was not too big and when I felt brave enough I put him outside.

That's what I do! I actually quite like having some spiders in the house (there's usually a few), just 'cos they eat everything else. 🙂

If I think there's too many, I catch them and pop them in the shed

O/H went into the kitchen one evening to make a cuppa, our baby girl crawled out after him. He turned round, and saw that she had found one and was just about to pop it into her mouth, with all its wriggly little legs. He leapt across the kitchen and hit it out of her hand, made her cry (of course -  she was more terrified of her screaming Dad hurtling towards her than she was of this tasty morsel)  :^O

I hate cockchafers and won't be going out after dark next month and neither will the dog!!!

You lot can't be frightened of spiders if you can get them in glasses and put them outside.

How can spiders reduce flies????  I've never seen a spider flying round, chasing a fly.:O

Maybe if I invest in a wine glass and drink a bottle of wine, I'll then have the courage to move the spiders:-)

Oh that's awful, a spider in your shorts 😞 I once saw a long spider leg disappearing under some paper in my wardrobe - was terrified for long enough, when I got my clothes out to put on!

I think spiders are the only crawlies that I can't stand, nothing else bothers me.

I don't like spiders either, but I am able to catch them and remove them to a far away place putside!

I leave them be as well if possible, though I draw the line at leaving massive cobwebs around the place

dont like anything with more than two eyes.......and four legs...... but i couldnt kill anything...

well apart from midges...... i swear the ones we had on holiday in donegal....were just a pair of flying teeth.

and wasps............what are they all about? give me a slug anyday (though i dont garden)
