Signature files and Animated Gifs

Good Morning,

I am afraid to say that we have arrived at a post I had hoped I would not have to make 😞 I will be posting this message across most of the main boards throughout the day.

The size of Signature Files in posts is starting to get a little too out of hand. Lately the size has been creeping up and in some cases there are two or three different things in sig files pushing out the size of posts. In addition the use of animated gifs has been creeping back in along with ad's for sales and attempts to hide links in text.

For the most part I've tried to be as flexible as possible, overlooking the ones that are a little bigger than the recommendations. When they have been too large I've contacted members directly to ask them to resize them, and members have been happy to comply. This is no longer an option as it is taking up too much time due to the number of people needing to be contacted.

Were these reported Liveworld will act on them, and I don't want to see anyone getting a warning over something easily avoided.

I hope we can work within these guidelines and bring the threads back to a point where posts are easy to read without too much scrolling.

Knitting - I was referring to the horrific pictures weeks ago of dead children & pornography and essays about child abuse/incest.

I am unable to give numbers as these posts were reported by many and were consequently removed.

Knittted - there was a 'troll' for a better word posting vile and horrific photos on the boards. I will be graffic and give you an example of the kind of thing posted. One was a photo of a naked girl hanged from a tree as well as photos of children who had been blown to pieces in a war torn country.

These are just an example of two there were others just as vile, horrific and distasteful.

At no time did I see any posts from pink to reassure us that this poster and these horrific images were being dealt with in the serious manner they deserved.

This is why I personally reported to the police. I don't think they'd have been interested in a complaint from me about the piccies of FHGers cats and dogs.

Sorry wotdoiknow I had no knowledge of these photographs which should have been pulled by Liveworld or whoever within minutes of your original complaint.

No doubt 'they' received a lot more complaints and by their neglect should be help culpable of a crime, but as an American company they think our laws don't matter.

IMHO the photographic thread is all about decent people sharing their love of the art of photography.

#340 Just to bring you up to speed. These vile photos and images were nothing to do with a photo thread. They appeared randomly on regular threads and included images of child abuse.

Although reported to ebay/liveworld by many FHGers and eventually removed they appeared randomly and regularly. At no point did a pink pop up with reassurances that these were being dealt with and the poster of these obsenities traced/reported but now sigs are such a problem it appears it deserves it very own huge pinned thread.

I personally can't help find this OP laughable but when there are real issues on these boards there is not a peep from them.

Maybe its time they came out of Liveworld put common sense in place and try realworld.

wot - the pinks DID take notice, they DID comment on it and they DID say they were trying to do something about it after various threads were posted both here and on Q&A

and the person who posted those pics was on this thread earlier but everyone was too busy getting on their high horses about sigs to even notice despite them admitting to it
