Signature files and Animated Gifs

Good Morning,

I am afraid to say that we have arrived at a post I had hoped I would not have to make 😞 I will be posting this message across most of the main boards throughout the day.

The size of Signature Files in posts is starting to get a little too out of hand. Lately the size has been creeping up and in some cases there are two or three different things in sig files pushing out the size of posts. In addition the use of animated gifs has been creeping back in along with ad's for sales and attempts to hide links in text.

For the most part I've tried to be as flexible as possible, overlooking the ones that are a little bigger than the recommendations. When they have been too large I've contacted members directly to ask them to resize them, and members have been happy to comply. This is no longer an option as it is taking up too much time due to the number of people needing to be contacted.

Were these reported Liveworld will act on them, and I don't want to see anyone getting a warning over something easily avoided.

I hope we can work within these guidelines and bring the threads back to a point where posts are easy to read without too much scrolling.

I was tryin to explain 'slaps' an 'BPers' to OH last night an he couldn't get his head round the fact that the moderators don't actually read whats bein reported. Told him that if someone don't like you they can just BP you whenever they see your id etc

exactly crystal. If business weren't open to discussions and improvements then there would never be any changes for the better. I know the posts removed are done automatically by a computor. Surely with something that is often as crystal says a vendetta, there should be a system where you can question it and have a response from a real person?

so chez I take you point, but who do you complain to ? Who actually bothers to do anything about it if you do complain ? And a post saying hello and getting slapped for is imaginary ? This is happening more and more, if you havent actually been subjected to any of this then you are lucky and possibly in a minority.

the thing is there are so many silly rules that people break all the time - like the sig ones

but if someone decides to BP you, there's loads of legitimate reasons to do most people's posts

it's not neccesarily unwarranted, or unread - just that it's maybe not a rule you thought of

There is more going on within these boards than the size of sigs but dont read you making a song and dance about them 😞

Dont get me wrong some sigs do my head in and I cant stand tickers about when posters last let one off/picked their nose/had a bath/cut their toenails but to post and pin a thread about them when there are more serious things going on is a waste of your time and ours :|:-(

Oh forgot to put I would rather read posts with sizes out of eBays sizing guidelines and scroll past them than trolls posting about what I am/what they think I am, what my mother is/was, my address and real name or how ugly my child looks

I don't regard my lack of slaps as lucky.. ( and yes I have had slaps, every one was deserved and none of them were advertised on the board)

And before anyone asks, this has only happened to me a few times. I am going on about this for a personal reason. Its a general thing. I dont bleat about the fact I have been bped if it is warrented, but yes I am guilty as charged if it is because someone didnt like something I said previously and took the opportunity to bp me for a simple hello or as razz said in her post a smiley face!

I don't need to advertise my slaps on the board, my new ID alerts everyone to the fact that I have had my butt slapped silly for the most ridiculous things 😞

Some deserved, some not-and I am not the only one 😞

well chez I like to think I do and if I dont I agree a slap is in order. My arguement is the ones and believe me a lot of people are sunjected to them, the ones that arent warrented. But I am going to shut up now as I am repeating myself and obviously not getting anywhere.:-D

your name is at the top of every post you make.. why do you need it at the bottom too?

and if you really need it.. just type it in!!

OH has had one slap ages ago an I don't even know why. I posted askin for advice on bullying an had to go out, when I got back I had a slap email. One of the posters emailed me an said that one of the posters had said some really horrible things so I spose that was why. I didn't see any of it tho!

Way back the reason I used a sig/tag is because I liked them and also it helped when you had to scroll down to your posts, you could easily identify it.

A little pic can brighten up a dull post, I think of it like tagging but without the spray paint :^O

I hate tickers and the ones that give out wrong info like you live near London when infact you couldnt live more far away from it if you tried.

Loved the "sigs" that hatched after a month leaving you with a little pet or a slice of toast :^O

School name labels are shouting on me, they wont iron themselfs on the shirts 😞

I have a little butterfly sig/tag on them along with daughters name.
