just got in at lunchtime, the phone goes....only the hospital offering me a date to have my op...23rd December
I had to stay in for 2 days with the last one, so I've said if I can come home on the same day or Christmas Eve, then I'll have it done. The lady is going to let me know what the consultant says tomorrow.
why do these things always happen to me?????? I can't really say no as I'm sure I've only been given the date because my doctor wrote to him last week. OH will have to do the Christmas dinner as I'd be laid up for 2weeks!!!!! oh gawd, why now Lord?????

Typical. It will be good to get it done though & you can be waited on all over Christmas.

You can have two Christmas dinners then one at hossy & another when you get home . ...simples 🙂

In our local hospital, they normaly let you out Christmas Eve, they don't like non urgent cases being in over Christmas. Happened to 2 members of my family a couple of years ago

Flipping heck CB. That's short notice. I don't think that I'd fancy being in one of our hospitals over Christmas either and the food is brilliant. Hope that you're not in over Christmas.

Look at it this way, if you decline this date you might have weeks or months more of pain.
You don't HAVE to celebrate your Christmas on the 25th, if you are still in hospital you can have your special meal etc. when you get home.
If you do end up incarcerated over the "official" holiday it will at least be quiet and the staff usually make a big effort.

go for the early date
have cmas dinner 2 days before you go, then OH can eat all the stuff left over while you are in hossie

Oh Caps!!!! Sending you big big hugs. Hope they reschedule it or let you out early.

I will confirm that there is absolutely no way CB can have the hospital xmas dinner as they starved her last time and then forgot all about the poor coo not having eaten so will arrive late or not at all for her.
There is one solution though dear Bovine ................... I could always pick you up and you are more than welcome to join us for the big day lunch as long as you can cope with the littlies chaos

Go for it Captain. No pain and waited on - sounds good to me.(maybe).
Luck with it Capt.

Good luck with it Cap'n. I'm with the 'get it done' brigade - particularly as you're in pain. Take a big bag of snacks & drinks with you?
My Aunt is going in this Monday to have a knee replaced. Sadly it means that she & my Uncle won't be at our daughter's wedding, which is going to be on 21st December (what a date to pick ) (we're all massively looking forward to it, & it's going to be very festive
) We are all upset that she HAD to be given that date, didn't she.. .. But we're pleased that , once it's done & she's recovering, she'll be free from the tremendous pain she has had to tolerate for over a year. Ghastly
She's very brave to me but my Uncle revealed that she's crying out with pain now

Oooerrrr CB. Knowing what the waiting lists are like here in Wales, I would say go for it, get the op done; they will probably chuck you out Christmas Eve anyway. Fingers crossed for you x

Yep waiting lists here in Wales are diabolical some up to 18 months plus. Go for it at least you could look forward to a Happy New Year.
