I picked up my new car today. It's like the flight deck of the Startship Enterprise
So many buttons and bells and I'm still not sure what some of them do.
It's really nice to drive but I'm having difficulty getting used to the size of it as I can't see the front corners and it makes me nervous.
Am I the only one that has trouble getting used to new cars?

What kind have you got Mags?
I'm getting a new car but I can't decide between a BMW 3 series 5 door or a Mercedes B class. It HAS to be white though!!
I don't like the one I've got, it's like driving a lawn mower!

Must admit Mags you're not on your own. It takes me a little while to get used a new car.
Hope that you are keeping well Mags.

I have a KIa Sportage CG.
Leather heated seats, cruise control, climate control, parking sensors............. etc
I looked at Mercedes S class.
Both of my kids drive BMWs and love them.

You're lucky Ed - looking for a name for this car - currently called BBM (big black monster!)

I want leather seats and parking sensors and sat nav. I used to use cruise control in a car I had about 20 years ago but I never ever used it in my Audi. My daughter always has BMWs and they seem nice and smooth.
I suppose it does take a while to get used to a different car, but once you are it's like putting on a comfy slipper isn't it!

I hope that you enjoy your hols Mags. Where are you going?

We are off to Crete Chris - for nearly 3 weeks. It's been a difficult year.

Yes Mags, I'd be a bit daunted too. I drive OH's big Audi sometimes, all buttons, no handbrake, but great once you get used to it, as I am sure you will. People will get out of your way if you're driving BBM!
CG - definitely the BMW, never drove anything else after I passed my test - my last beamer before my divorce was a 320i black - God I loved that car.

Hope so RDW

That should be good Mags. I hope that you have a lovely time.

Never had a new car and never will because I could not afford one. I do change cars now and again but not very often. My last car was a P reg Saab which had 250,000 miles on the clock when we parted company because I could not afford to run it any longer. I then bought an 8 year old Almera 3 years ago with 51,000 miles on the clock and it now has 104,000 miles on the clock.
Any car I buy is a workhorse to get me back and forward to work and the only problem I might have is over compensating around town at tight bends when I might give myself a bit more room to get round them but this I put down to usually being in a wagon and needing extra room.

I've never had a new car but my car was just a year old when I got it - a 1995 Vauxhall Astra Sport (yellow)!
I've still got it and it's coming up for twenty years old. I love it and when it finally dies I shall be very sad, I don't
think I'll find another like it.
Our Meriva was virtually new when we got it ten years ago, it was an ex motability car which the owner only
had for about two months before it sat in our showroom round the corner for three months before we got it.

I had one new car. I drove it into the back garden to take pictures of it and punctured the tyre!!! It had about 5 miles on the clock!
I'd never have another new one, they lose too much value as you drive them out of the showroom, plus you get all the teething troubles. I now get demonstration models or ones up to a year old.
Not that I drive much. The car I have now is 6 years old and I've had it for 4 years and have bumped the mileage up from 12,000 to a whopping 16,000 miles!!

Sorry for the confusion - when I said new car I meant new to me. The car is just over 2 years old.
