that once abounded in here ?
I remember once (not sure who it was for), a lady in here with a very ill little boy (I think) whose only real contact with the outside world was her computer as she had her hands full looking after him.
She was having computer problems and was not sure how much longer she could stay in contact with her friends in here and everyone chipped in what they could afford to buy her a new computer to allow her to continue contact and have the support all her friends in here wanted her to have.
Now in my opinion that was the real community spirit of here that once was and when FHG lived up to its name of Family ! Some lovely, warm, kind, caring and generous people that stepped up when one of the community family needed help.
Real FAMILY.

I think that was before my time DC. What a heart warming story I hadn't heard that.

I can't remember that story DC but it shows how it used to be on here.
I remember when Tintin used to do the tea threads and then she finally got a job after trying for ages. Didn't she have a son called Alexander?

Yes I remember tintingingercat, she entrusted me with the tea thread.

I think you are right books and everyone was so thrilled for her when she got the job after all she had gone through trying to find one.

ed, it really was such a wonderful place then and if someone had a problem they would come in and tell about it and the whole place gathered around them too give support, advice and any help that they could.

I agree DC. FHG used to be really good like that as we all used to help wherever we could when someone had a problem.

books, it was very heart warming and humbling to see the support that poured from the people in here then.
If only it could go back to even a semblance of that now.

It would be good wouldn't it? I know I've had brilliant support when my mum's been in hospital. It was good to know that I could come on here and people who I'd never met where here for support.
Does anyone remember the new year's eve party and we all 'brought' different food and drinks? I think that a good time was had by all.

There was also a time ed when one family was in financial difficulties through no real fault of theres and once again the FAMILY of here chipped in to give a little to give the children a bit of a Christmas and a good Christmas meal.
The family in question were very nice people and were extremely surprised and grateful
Once again an example of the FAMILY that once was here.
I think Maggie and CG would be the ones that would be best to tell about what FHG used to be like.
I never attended any of them but at one time there used to be meets where people from FHG met up face to face and introduced themselves to each other.

I am a long time community member from the time of Q and A although with a different ID (thanks to trolls) to date and yes things have changed over the years but then so have we.
I still believe that we are the kind and supporting group that we always have been it's just that lives are so busy that the fact we are all still in touch and available for kindness and help sometimes goes un-noticed as it's not always on here or even in full view .................... take worms for example (peeps will know what I mean)
I still pop in on a daily basis and post when I have a valid point of view or when I feel appropriate but no matter what I read all the posts and enjoy them
and to end this post I wave to all my good friends on here both old and new and welcome anybody else who wishes t join this still warm and happy little family xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Stan. Grace is 5 now and she loves school. Georgia is one today. This last year has gone over so quickly. I am still knitting and swimming - not both at the same time I hasten add. There's a young girl who goes to the same health club as me and she's having a baby in May so I'm knitting a cardigan for her baby at the moment.
How are your littlies doing Stan?
