Decisions, Decisions - Where To Go

Gosh, is anyone's else's family like this when trying to decide where to go out?

When we are on holiday, we come to a reasonably quick and agreeable conclusion

as to where to go and what to do but, my goodness, when we're at home it's

impossible!  Hubby says I can't make a decision, but I've made at least half a dozen

and he's made one.

We don't want to go miles and miles away as son has plans and we don't want to leave

him for hours and hours.  Traffic is an issue to be considered too as it can get very

busy, especially at the Dartford Crossing, M25 and seasides.

I've suggested a general run around, just seeing where we end up, with lunch and

walk and maybe swim.  Also Cambridge, Hyde Hall Gardens, National Trust places

(the latter two of which we get in free as are members), RSPB reserve, though we do

go there quite a lot, seaside, garden centre for lunch, butterfly place and a few others. 

Hubs has suggested a walk somewhere with a picnic, specifics not included.

We are still here 'cos he doesn't really want to do any of that.  Sometimes it's less

hassle to just do what we normally do, ie., potter about.  Normally, on bank holidays

he doesn't want to do anything in particular but today, I think because we were

going to all have a meal together with rest of family but it had to be cancelled, that

he feels, well I don't know, but wants to compensate with an outing!

Take matters in hand.  Tell him to get in the car, you're taking him on a mystery tour.  Then just go where you want to go.  Make sure you have lunch out (you don't want to be having to make picnics) and once there, he'll enjoy it.  Have a nice time!

I think I would choose National Trust (cool inside) & a picnic & walk in the grounds. Peaceful & relaxing.

Sounds as if by the time you decide where to go....the day will be over!!!!

Exactly Tintin, day going by.  Though I'm doing stuff that needs doing.

Hubs has gone in car down to work to do something.

He has to clear car out by tomorrow morning as it's being taken for

repair but he's kind of ignoring that, probably hoping that about

9 o-clock tonight when it still isn't done, I'll do it!  Grass needs

mowing but he's ignoring that as well, and similar treatment for

the stuff that needs to go to tip and curtain rail that needs putting

up!  I think he feels cheated if he has to do real stuff on bank

holidays (or any time really!).

I don't worry about stuff like traffic jams, I mean I don't like them but

if I want to go somewhere I work round the traffic jam worst times or

I work out a route that at least partially isn't affected by them.  But

he only has to see half a dozen cars stopped in front and he gets

all fidgety!  That gets my goat a bit, especially as it's usually me who's

driving anyway!  He absolutely detests shopping so I can't even

get him out to get a couple of bits he needs as it's one shop for

a few minutes then it degenerates into eating!

My son reckons I swim like I go round the shops, meanderingly.  He

did a most amusing impression in the pool the other day, swimming

a length via all over the pool!

Chickengrandma, I'd love to take him on a mystery tour, but he'd get so

fidgety and unbearable not knowing what was going on.  It's weird 'cos

he knows that I know allsorts of exciting and lovely places through work,

and that I wouldn't plan a surprise that he didn't like, but he still gets

the collywobbles if I don't tell him!

We went, picnic in hand to Lymington baths.  Unfortunately so did the wasps so son and OH weren't happy and didn't eat.  They'd moved ropes round and you can no longer swim a length only widths, which didn't suit OH either, but they've put some fun stuff in for kids. Then we went to a pub offering cheap carverys which suited the 2 lads but daughter stropped.  Sproglet had a wonderful time!!! but then she would.

All my fault because it was my suggestion!!!!!!!!!!  What I fancied was sitting in my garden which, for once, was all neat and tidy!

Oh wow, I love Lymington Baths, it's so, well, massive.

We went to Hyde Hall Garden in the afternoon, just Hubs and me.

Had a cream tea and a look at all the beautiful flowers and massive

fish.  In the evening we took the boys for a meal at Prezzo.  So, despite

all the indecisiveness, we had a lovely time.

Glad you had a lovely time, but isn`t it a bit of a busman`s holiday if you do all the driving.

Ah, Fishie.  It has been taken over.  Deepest water is now 1.4m and it has been zoned off across the width for various uses.  Was surprised how much smaller it looked.  It also had the effect of shoving all families to the far end of the pool instead of spread out, because that was where the kids were swimming. They are also chlorinating the water(due to health and safety), and they appear to have got rid of the crabs:-(. Not as good was our opinion but hopefully it will revitalise the pool, make some money and be there for the next generation.
