I have an Aunt who is 75, and lives on her own, she doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't eat chocolate or use bubble bath, she knits her own hats and scarves, she doesn't sew or paint, she doesn't wear perfume or makeup. She has a car, but has all the bits that go with it, triangle, torch etc. She spends a lot of time in the garden, but we have done the garden thing for years and have even started having some of the presents we have given being given back to us as presents.
She lives in an old cottage, that is full to the gunnels with furniture and old china and paintings so anything modern would look out of place.
We have always given a garden centre token but last year the look we got said - oh dear not another token.
We are at a complete loss what to get. H E L P

Set in her ways I would say, she doesn't like going out for the day very much unless it is to visit stately homes, I had thought of that, but she is a member of the Nat. Trust and English heritage, so that is out.

Nope, she doesn't really like driving, but only does it because she lives in the country.
Sorry made me laugh just imagining her in F1 car at Silverston.
Told you she was difficult.
Dont get me wrong, she does keep very active, but no sport or anything, mainly coffee mornings, trips to the hairdresser that sort of thing, she goes to flower arranging dinners, but doesn't actually flower arrange herself. She has just gone to America to visit her sister
for 3 weeks, so I thought of a passport cover, what did she do, buy one herself, she doesn't want new bags, because there is nothing wrong with the old ones.
She has never been married and most things are inherited from her parents so have sentimental value so she wouldn't want them replaced.

A year's supply of knitting wool and needles, or a subscription to a knitting magazine?
26-11-2013 3:20 PM
Sorry Merlin, tried that before, smelly candles give her headaches, so she told us a soon as she opened the present.
Keep 'em coming
26-11-2013 3:21 PM
Got one of them.

What about a nice selection of cheese that supermarkets sell at this time of year in gift boxes? I know, she doesn't eat cheese, LOL !

I have got a new knitting bag and needle holder in mind, but apparantly according to mum my other aunt gave that last year and she hasn't taken it out of the bag yet.
As to the wool great idea but not sure what to get.
Don't suggest a hamper as my cousins always have one sent, and she gives us all the things she doesn't want which is most of it.

You got it Carol cheese gives her heartburn.

i know you said about the garden
what about a nice bird table and edible supplies so she can sit and look out at all the visitors that come to it
26-11-2013 3:32 PM
Thats ok, Nat. Trust membership already has, and flowers belong in the garden apparantly,
I don't think we are going to win here you know.
I really wanted to get something she hasn't got, wouldn't moan about and that she would love but it is so difficult.
I really didn't want to go the voucher route because I don't want her to think we haven't thought about it.
