Well i dont drink but am a sucker for buying a few boxes of choccies all to myself!!!!!!!!!!!!. I love Roses or Quality Street and they have one with toffees and fudge only this year so im going to have one of those. I normally buy a choccie log but some from certain shops are not as nice as others. I think home made would be better. Mince Pies and custard is my favourite as i dont like Christmas cake or pudding!!. Yum Yum.

It might be virtuous to make your own katcrazy but it's soooo expensive. I've just made one today and when you think of the cost of raisins, currants, sultanas, glace cherries, almonds, mixed peel, lemon, flour, eggs, butter, spices, brown sugar, eggs and treacle. Then there's a cake board, marzipan, icing, decorations and brandy to soak it. (I had to get two lge bottles for mine, I think one and a half bottles evaporated) It's not cheap! I don't even eat it but I like making it and hubby will eat the lot.
All the other chocolate is for the stockings ck. Son and hubby are getting through the chocolate in the drawer. I did actually have a Cadbury's Caramel about a week ago. They've certainly shrunk, but just as well as it was sooooo sweet and sickly. I had a job eating it but I was determined.

I got a little catalogue thing for A***is through the door, they have some really good things in it and good value too. There is one a couple of minutes from me but i have only been once as i did not think they were much good. It was when they just opened though so i should give them another try!.

There seems to be a trend with the Christmas biscuit tins for the makers to put little bags of bics into the tins rather than a layout selection. Its so nice to open a tin of bics and feast your eyes on the display!! I was going to buy a tin of iced party rings the other day but the fact that it was little bags inside put me off - why when bics like this are so pretty???
Also the mega long tubes of smarties do they have individual tubes inside or is it one big tube full of smarties? My guess its individual tubes - how dull if so!!

CB I certainly don't buy the Stollen in work I get them in Lidls, sadly we dont have an Aldi within 40 miles.

Individual tubes of Smarties, cheaper to buy seperate packets, same with the party rings, and anything else in tubes or long boxes.

I saw a long bar of Crunchie in Tesco on Monday. I thought it was just one bar, about two feet long, but I'm not sure now, reading about the Smarties.

Nope CG 4 bars, they were £4.00 a packet, which worked out dearer than buying 4 @ 60p each, they are now half price at £2.00. We checked them out yesterday as loved the idea of a huge Crunchie. imagine our disapointment.

I think we should protest about this blatant con!!
How misleading and fake is it to say its a massive tube of smarties, crunchie etc when it isn't its just a big box
I nearly got conned when they did this with jaffa cakes and put them in a really long box.

Yup agree totally, got caught myself last year with the Jaffa cakes

yes cg xxx making your own cakes etc is expensive I try to buy in all year round and the resist drinking all the brandy from the last trip to good food show lol but I do enjoy making them and yes it all goes I have got large family of gannets

we have loads of those crunchies in work, they're all getting bent and broken as people pick them up to see if they're one big crunchie and then are disappointed when they see they're just 4 bars you can get for £1!!!!
Most Christmas and Easter stuff is a rip off, you can't beat a chocklit santa though
